David Pleat has been appointed the new manager of Sheffield Wednesday after walking out on Luton for the second time in his career. The two clubs couldn't agree on the compensation fee for the remaining year of Pleat's contract at Luton. Luton wanted a sum in the region of 300,000 pounds but Wednesday didn't want to pay this much. After going to arbitration Wednesday were ordered to pay 150,000 pounds to Luton.
Pleat has joined on a two year rolling contract and is looking forward to his new job. Some quotes include
"It is a massive challenge for me at a stage when I need extra stimulous. The club has the basis to be a very big organisation,"
"The history of the club is sound, but all we can do is our best with the facilities we've got."
"I'm looking forward to the challenge and I'm delighted Sheffield Wednesday have invited me,"
"I have had some thoughts about the coaching team but I haven't had the opportunity to speak to any individuals," said Pleat.
The chairman has said that money is available for Pleat to strengthen his squad of players.
